A Year-Long Celebration
Buffalo State College is gearing up and planning for an amazing milestone in the college’s history: our sesquicentennial anniversary! On September 13, 1871, we began teaching students and changing lives.
Starting September 2021, we will begin a year-long celebration.
The campus is planning for a year of special events, speakers, performances, athletic competitions, and more. We also will kick off our 150 Voices project, which reflects on our accomplishments and the impact we’ve had on our community.
As we look ahead to our next 150 years, we want you with us as we continue to believe, inspire, and achieve at Buffalo State.

Become a Part of BSU History
As part of the 150th Anniversary Celebration, we are pleased to announce a competition for new lyrics for the Buffalo State alma mater. Lyrics should fit with the musical melody, represent the mission and values of Buffalo State, and address the strengths found in our diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
The winner of the competition will receive a $2,500 stipend and also will be recognized during the opening ceremonies of the 150th Anniversary Celebration in September 2021. The updated song will become a part of the ceremonial life at Buffalo State for years to come. We invite you to become a part of our history!
